Vineta!

Vineta!

Vineta lives in Cerību māja (House of Hope). This place is her home and she spends there everyday. Soon she will turn 45 years old. She has a son named Verners and she misses him very much, but we must accept that sometimes life has its own plans made for us.
Cerību māja is truly like home. There is a place for rest as well as place where to work from heart. She enjoys it very much. Last weekend Vineta created stool beds for the fruit trees and did some weeding in the greenhouse. There are other responsibilities too, such as cleaning the premises, washing dishes and setting tables for the meals. The responsibilities are teaching her to acquire everyday skills and to be useful and appreciated. In spring, the Cerību māja received tomato seedlings from the donations and later they were planted in the large greenhouse. Next to the tomatoes are also growing cucumbers, sweet peppers, zucchini and pumpkins. Since childhood Vineta has learned to love the gardening as much as her mother, who is an agronomist. The people here are also preparing stocks for the winter and everyone work hand in hand. From time to time, the Cerību māja welcomes guests.
In the day centre, Vineta feels like home. She has mastered the skills of beading by creating bracelets and head ornaments, but she pays the most attention and care to painting silk scarves. She is creating stencils and applying the colours very slowly so that the drawing does not blur. It takes approximately 3 days to finish everything. After that, she brings the silk scarfs to the customers of the store Visi Var (Everyone Can). Vineta also likes to spend her time working with ceramics. With the help of teacher Maija, she learned how to make clay and created her first flower pot and cone decorations. Currently she only observes the process of carpet weaving, because she sees it as a big challenge, but who knows – maybe one day Vineta will be mastering the weaving herself and showing others how to do it.
In the spare time she enjoys listening to Latvian hit music, such as the band "Apvedceļš" and Russian romantic music. She has been on a trip to Lisieux, where she visited Basilica of St. Teresa and received the priest's blessing. She treats herself to a bar of chocolate, but from childhood she especially remembers the sweet melon, which she enjoys very much. Tastes and memories from childhood Vineta cherishes the most.
