Druvis!

Druvis!

It’s 10 years since Druvis has a disability group. It took some time after a tick bite when a diagnosis was made to assign a disability group. Druvis has accepted what has happened and he would like others to accept it as well. In the association “Cerību spārni” (Wings of Hope) he has been for a long time, about 8 years. Everyday he travels with Sigulda public transport and he also has an assistant who helps when necessary.
He comes to the day centre, because he is happy about all the things that he can do there! Druvis has made candles and soap, but he likes weaving the most. At first, he tried to weave on the “small looms” to acquire skills, but after a month and a half, teacher Renāte encouraged him to start working seriously and safely on the big weaving looms. About 10 carpets have been made in colours chosen by Druvis, but Renāte adjusts them to be harmonised and tasteful tones. Weaver’s favourite colours are blue and green. It is very important how prepared small fabric balls and/or the material is properly arranged in the carpet. First, he chooses the necessary shades he will use in the work. There are so many nuances that Druvis has learned in this trade.
He’s happy to spend his free time going on excursions led by the day centre. He’s seen the exhibit of mushrooms in the Museum of Natural History, he’s gone to the Riga Zoo and The Munchhausen Museum, and soon he’ll visit the Nature Park in Tērvete. Druvis attends physical therapy in the day centre. This activity is crucial for the improvement of his health. If asked to tell about his furthest trips Druvis remembers the time he flew to London and saw the Sun above the clouds for the first time. Druvis tries to go on longer walks in the nature and he listens to various genres of music. In regard to celebrations, he’s the most happy when meeting his family and celebrating Christmas. He wishes for everyone to be sincere, friendly and never forget about humour!
