Alvis!

Alvis!

Alvis has been visiting the association Cerību spārni (Wings of Hope) since its beginnings. He started coming to the Day Centre after recommendations from his colleagues, for which he is very thankful. Every day he rides to the classes on his bicycle. It gives him joy as he rides into the central part of Sigulda. At the start he watched what sort of things the others were doing until he chose what he was best at. He is always in the leather department, making jewellery boxes and keychains. He is very good at it! Later he started cutting pre-prepared strips for making carpets. It requires a lot of attention and concentration. Since Alvis’s mother is a skilled master weaver he decided to help her with creating templates, but chooses not to weave himself.
In the evening he watches sporting event broadcasts. He really loves hockey. If there are no interesting sport event broadcasts, he listens to Latvian Radio 2. Together with the other visitors of the day centre, he was very happy about the sporting events that took place in the sporting complex Ķeizarmežs. He really loved throwing darts, playing table hockey and taking part in relay races. He showed his passion to sport by participating in the bowling game too! He is also very kind and does not mind to help his mother in the kitchen and the garden. He helped putting all harvested autumn goods in the basement as well as helped picking up strawberries. Without doubts and persuasions, he always participates in singing and dancing classes. In the yearly charity event Kalniešu spēles (Mountaineer Games) he put on a clown costume, nose and performed a theatrical show.
Alvis has a small dream - he wants to win at the lottery Super Bingo! As Alvis says, “Trying isn’t the same as losing!”
In daily life he is quiet, helpful and always smiling. His colleagues appreciate that they can always rely on Alvis. “A man’s word is gold!” Alvis hopes that everyone can be happy and their wishes come true!
