The award competition is organized by the Latvian Civic Alliance and the US Embassy in Latvia.
In a solemn ceremony, the 2022 laureates of the "Awards for Human Development" were awarded, honoring people and organizations that have contributed to the well-being of society with their selfless work, and work with passion for many years to strengthen people, to be a support point in difficult life situations.
"The US Embassy in Latvia supports the Human Development Award, because organizations that come together to solve problems and strengthen their communities are the heart of a strong and resilient democracy," emphasizes US Ambassador to Latvia John Carvails.
As every year, this year also at the ceremony of the award for Human Growth, the laureates received the sculpture "Sprout" created by sculptor Olga Shilova, which is a stylized figure of a young woman, symbolizing a sprout awakened by the spring sun - fragile, but at the same time full of energy, reaching up towards the sun.
"The sprout also embodies the idea that the beginning of big changes can start small. With this motive, the award competition for Human Growth is held, because we believe that every small step can be the beginning of big changes, every good story can increase the good and be an inspiration to others to accomplish small and big feats. The award competition gives an opportunity to meet, highlight and thank people and organizations whose world perception and work are based on increasing the good, developing something new, promoting the growth of the surrounding people and Latvia," emphasizes Kristīne Zonberga, director of the Latvian Civic Alliance.
